Summary
Key to success for a large-scale genome project:
Excellent collaboration (team play) between all members involved in the project and centralized coordination.
Utilizing the talents of people of a diverse background (system administration, database curator,
applications specialist, biologists, undergraduate programmers).
Understanding the quality and amount of data needed to process.
Search literature and the Web (especially newsgroups) for existing software
and possible solutions.
Decision making: what needs to be done from scratch and what is possible to re-use.
Balancing the real amount of time and effort needed to solve a particular problem.
Most importantly - some extent of luck.
